Mesozoic

Mesozoic is a quick, competitive 2-player game about building the timeline of the Mesozoic Era, the Time of the Dinosaurs.

Players play their dinosaurs into the different geological Periods, gaining fossils which win them the game, or expand the timeline to gain more available space and food. But the timeline can never go back to a previous period, and as food dwindles the options get more restricted! Players must use their cards tactically to get the best results and win!

Mesozoic was designed for the September 2022 Button Shy Games 18-Card Design Challenge. The contest was to design a wallet game about dinosaurs that did not feature either modern-day dinosaur parks or dinosaurs fighting each other. So I decided to lean on my background as a geologist and use the contest to explore the concept of species and geological time!
